I present you...
The very first cake I have ever made without anyone as a mentor around.
Steam chocolate cake.
Tadaaaaa...!!!
It is very easy to make this cake. The taste is good! I mean, really good! (to my taste, that is). And the most important thing of all, neither mixer nor oven are required to make this cake! Yayy!! ...considering the fact that I dont have those two things in my kitchen.
Get the recipe in si tukang nyampah's cooking blog.

[Recipe] Ayam Sampah

Ayam sampah ini adalah makanan dari Aceh. Disebut ayam sampah karena banyak sekali 'sampahnya', yaitu daun-daunan yang memperkaya rasa olahan ayam ini.
Masaknya gampang banget.
Bahan-bahannya:
Air jeruk nipis untuk melumuri ayam
500gr ayam, potong kecil-kecil
4-5 butir bawang putih, haluskan
2 sdt garam
1 sdt merica
3 sdm kecap manis
7 lembar daun pandan
2 tangkai besar daun kari (tangkai besar yang bercabang-cabang jadi tangkai-tangkai kecil)
6 buah cabai hijau
Minyak goreng
Caranya:
1 jam sebelum mulai memasak, cuci ayam bersih-bersih, lalu tiriskan.
Siapkan minyak panas agak banyak. Goreng dedaunan dan cabai hijau bersama-sama sampai mulai kering. Angkat kemudian tiriskan dari minyak. Sisihkan.

[Recipe] Mie Ayam
This recipe is a simple recipe for making Mie Ayam. It tastes quite good and is easy to make. I got this recipe from Mba Ita, and modify it to my taste.
| Ingredients Chicken topping: 250gr minced chicken 75gr button mushroom, chopped 1 yellow onion, chopped 2-3tbs oyster sauce 3-4tbs sweet soy sauce 2tbs margarine for stir-frying dash of white pepper salt (optional, since the oyster sauce is already salty) Fried onion for garnishing Soup: 3 glass of water Chicken stock Bok Choi or chye sim Celery Fried onion for garnishing | Noodle: You can buy packed wanton noodle in a supermarket and cook it according to the instruction written on its package. I prefer to use instant noodle with chicken flavor. Cook the noodle together with all the seasoning and some green leafy vegetable like bok choi. After all are cooked, separate the vegetables from the noodle, and then strain the noodle while keeping the soup. |
Instruction
- Preheat the margarine and then stir fry the onion until its color slightly changes.
- Add in the mushroom, continue to stir fry for about 2-3 minutes.
- Add in the chicken, oyster sauce, and sweet soy sauce. Continue to stir until it is well-mixed and the chicken is cooked.
- Prepare a bowl to place the noodle in. Put the the topping on top of the noodle and add some vegetables from the soup to garnish it. Prepare another smaller bowl to place in the soup.
- Garnish with fried onion.
Note: You can use the chicken topping for chicken-porridge, or just eat it with steamed rice.

[Recipe] Sate Padang
Sate Padang is a Padang style Satay, from west Sumatra province. This Padang style satay is quite famous in Indonesia. It tastes really hot, and is served with 'ketupat'. The satay is usually consist of beef meat, tongue, and sometimes some beef intestines. But since i don't quite like the tongue and intestines, i make the satay of only the meat.
Instruction
- Ground galangar, ginger, turmeric, chili, shallots, garlics, corriander, cummin seed, salt and pepper to become the spice paste.
- Prepare the meat, cut into cubes of size about 1.5x1.5x1.5cm. Pour some water to cover all the meat in a pan, bring to boil. Remove the dark-coloured froth (foam, which is actually the blood contained in the meat).
- Drain the meat from its broth. Keep the broth.
- Preheat about 3tbs of cooking oil in a fry pan. Stir fry the spice paste. Add in the turmeric leaf, lime leaves, and lemon grass. Wait until fragrant.
- Add in the half-cooked meat cubes, continue to stir fry for about 15 minutes.
- Pour the broth back into the fry pan. Continue to cook until the meat is tender.
- Drain the meat, keep the spiced broth. Skew every 3-4 cubes of meat into the bamboo skewer. Grill.
- Bring the spiced broth to boil. Mix about 2tbs of rice flour with 100ml water. Add it into the spiced broth, continue to stir it until the broth become thick and become a sauce.
- Served the satay with 'ketupat', spread some fried shallots onto the serving.

[no title]
Actually i wanted to make this blog to be written in english. But, geez, i find it soooo hard to write recipes in english. First of all, i'm not familiar with the terms used in cooking stuff. I have to read a lot of recipe in english to be able to do this. *sigh*
There is a project that has been put on hold... to create my own spices glossary, complete with their pictures. As i am indonesian, i only know a name of a spice in Indonesian. Sometimes i dont know what to call a certain spice in English. So when i go to the grocery store, i'm counting on the picture on the package. And from there i learn the spice's name in English. I can go to the wet market and just ask for the spice i need to the seller. There are lots of seller in the wet market who understand Malay. That's the case if the indonesian word for the spices is the same as the Malay word. But, if it's not... heehee... i will just take my time and scan the whole stall looking for the thing i want.
Well, the glossary i want to create is not only for spices, but also for fish names, and beef meat part.
Hopefully i can finish this project before my sister get married. So when she ask me about any of this thing, i will just refer her to this blog. *lazy me... :P *
