The Ring

Image hosted by Photobucket.comOur wedding ring have its own story. It is not made of gold. This is because in Islam men are prohibited to wear golden rings or anything that is made of gold. So, we suggested to eliminate the ring exchange ritual. But our parents disagreed. That meant only one thing: the ritual was still on, but not with gold ring.
First we consider white gold. But we found out that white gold was still containing gold itself. In fact it contains around 85% of gold. The term white gold is not only referring to the color. Next we consider silver. But then we thought silver was just too common and too cheap. I wasn't sure why but we both agreed that we need something different for our wedding ring. So the search continued. I found titanium wedding ring in one of the jewellry shop in Bandung. I thought this could be it. It was rare, and more important it wasn't gold. But (again) i don't like the designs they offered, and plus we couldn't order the ring for design that we choose. Well, titanium was no longer an option. Until finally, my mother goldsmith offered to make our wedding ring from platinum and he guaranteed that it would not contain gold at all. And so the search is over, and our wedding ring is made of platinum.
